At ChefPaw, we are dedicated to providing the most comprehensive and accurate nutritional information for your pet's homemade meals. We understand that our users may want to include new ingredients in our database, whether it's a common food item or a specialized nutritional supplement. Here's how you can help us expand our ingredient list.

Step 1: Check the USDA Database

If the ingredient you want to add is already listed in the USDA database for food nutrition, the process is straightforward. We can download the information directly from the USDA database and integrate it into our system. This ensures that the nutritional information is accurate and up-to-date.

Step 2: Submitting a Non-USDA Ingredient

For ingredients not listed in the USDA database, such as nutritional supplements from different brands, we require specific nutritional details from the manufacturer. This helps us maintain the accuracy and reliability of the information in our database.

Step 3: Filling Out the Ingredient Form

To assist you in submitting a new ingredient, we provide a blank form where you can enter the necessary nutritional details. If you have the nutrient amounts per 100 grams, you can either fill out the form yourself or send the information to us, and we will handle the data entry.

Important Tips for Filling Out the Form

Focus on Key Nutrients: While our form includes up to 50 different nutrient data points, the trace amounts at the beginning of the list are the most critical. Please prioritize entering information for calories, carbohydrates, and protein.

Complete as Much as Possible: Don't worry if you can't fill out every single data point. Providing as much information as possible will help us create a comprehensive profile for the new ingredient.
